We are a professional labor organization associated with the International Association of Fire Fighters, A.F.L. - C.I.O. It is our mission to serve the continued interests of our members and the community that we are paid to serve.
The Charleston Firefighter's Association represent a large number of personnel employed by the City of Charleston Fire Department that hold the following ranks. Captain, Engineer, Assistant Engineer and Firefighter.
As previously stated, it is our function as a professional labor organization to protect the interests of our members as well as those of the citizens and businesses that call the City of Charleston their home. We feel the goals of our members and the City that employs them are not mutually exclusive, but should work together hand-in-hand. By promoting firefighter health and safety in conjunction with our members personal improvement and compensation, we help to ensure that the City of Charleston, it's citizens and businesses, are served and protected by the highest motivated, best trained, most educated and most competent firefighters possible.
Many of our members consider the City of Charleston home. They have built friendships and families within this wonderful community. Ultimately it is in our best interests to ensure that we give nothing less than our absolute best to the City of Charleston because the person we are helping is more than just a taxpayer that supports our salaries, that person is a neighbor, friend, maybe even a relative. That individual has family and friends just like our members do. We are all a part of the same fabric that makes the community we live in and together we can make a positve difference in the lives of others.
