First Day Back to School Program
This Saturday, August 16, 2014, the Charleston Firefighters Association Local 61 will be helping out with the First Day Back to School Program.  We will be assisting with stuffing backpacks at the Maritime Center in preparation for Sunday.  If you would like to help out your brothers and your community, please join us from 0900-1200. Dear Local 61 Members, As you are well aware the new pay plan has been rolled out. I have sent a copy of the pay plan to Washington, DC and the IAFF believes that the new pay plan is legal. I have spoken with several people around the region and across the United States. Nick Smith House Fire
Members, This past Thursday, February 13, 2014, Firefighter Nick Smith experienced a fire at his home.  It was contained to an add on and no major damage occured to the rest of the house.  His family doesn't have any needs or wants at this time.  He was asked to let the Local know if there was anything we could do, but as of now everyone is okay. On Saturday January 4, 2014 a major fire occured at the home of one of the City of Charleston's firefighters.  Captain Rufus Brown's house was severly damaged due to the fire.  No one was home at the time and his family is okay. Read More...
HISTORIC CFD FIRE STATION 6 CLOSED AFTER ASBESTOS SCARE

Firefighters from the Cannon Street Fire Station, home to Engine Co. 6 and Battalion Chief 3, have been relocated to the Coming Street Fire Station (Engine Co. 15 & Ladder Co. 4) and the fire station has been closed, due to an asbestos scare.
